Join us at Richards Hall in the Chrysler Building of Cleary University for an all ages, engaging dance and drumming performance with the Bichini Bia Congo Dance Theater Company of Ann Arbor, MI & Afro Beats by Takiyah Jackson of Flint, MI.

Doors open 5:00 pm, Performances begin at 5:30 - refreshments will be served

Afro Beats performance and instruction provided by Takiyah Jackson.  Mrs. Jackson is a dance instructor at Creative Expressions Dance Studio in Flint.  Afrobeat is a Nigerian music genre that involves the combination of West African musical styles and American funk, jazz, and soul influences, with a focus on chanted vocals, complex intersecting rhythms, and percussion.  Mrs. Jackson will teach us all how to move and groove!

Bichini Bia Congo Dance Theater Company is the only authentic African dance company based in Ann Arbor and the only Congolese dance company in the mid-west. Established in 1979 by founder and artistic director Biza Sompa, Bichini Bia Congo offers performances with unique opportunities for audiences to encounter African cultural performing arts at its best.
