Pride Alliance of Livingston (PAL)
Pride Alliance of Livingston was created and brought under the auspices of the Livingston Diversity Council in September 2019. Pride Alliance is a community-based organization promoting an all-inclusive community for our neighbors through LGBTQ+ education, collaboration and advocacy for equality, in order to celebrate our similarities and embrace our individuality.
Community Outreach
& Education
LDC’s Community Outreach & Education committee is made up of individuals serving on the Board of Directors as well as individuals in the LDC membership. This committee is focused on identifying educational opportunities to enhance our community’s knowledge and understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, access and social justice. Events may be hosted/facilitated by LDC like our monthly online learning series: Learn, Love, Livingston, but also may be hosted by an outside organization with LDC as a sponsor.
Faith & Social Justice
Event Committees
LDC’s Faith & Social Justice Workgroup is an inter-faith organization comprised of faith leaders, lay leaders and people of faith that supports and coordinates Faith-based activities in various specific areas of social justice which serves two distinct and related purposes:
1. To make our communities and counties more welcoming to all people
2.To increase the understanding and support of residents of the complex issues of social justice through application of our faiths’ teachings, values and beliefs
LDC hosts various events throughout the year in order to highlight significant historical events and nationally recognized celebrations. There are opportunities for community members to volunteer their time to assist in planning these events as well as to support the tasks required during the event itself (day of event volunteer). Our event committees currently include Honoring Black History (events annually held in February), Celebrating Pride Month (events annually held in June) and our annual community event, Cultura - a celebration of culture through music, art, and food - held in September.
