Sexuality Education for People with Developmental Disabilities
A team of Livingston County professionals gathered at Treetops Resort in Gaylord, MI for the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Conference. This program was designed for teams of self-advocates and parents/professionals who want to learn how to lead sexuality education classes for people with developmental disabilities. The content of this 22 lesson curriculum includes information about communication, decision making, establishing boundaries, healthy relationships, sexuality, gender identity, gender expression, sexual attraction/orientation, consent and sexual assault.
Once the team has been trained, the information will be brought back to our Livingston County community and the team will work with other local professionals to determine how to best implement the programming.
